WestJet’s Christmas Miracle: To Give Or Receive Campaign Selected As A Finalist For The 2020 Shorty Awards

We’re excited to share that WestJet’s Christmas Miracle: To Give Or Receive Campaign has been selected for a Shorty Award under the category Long Form Video, Storytelling. The campaign was produced by WestJet, Studio M, ARHT Media & Unified Content.

For eight years WestJet has been delivering a holiday season video intended to spread the joy of the holidays throughout their guests. This year, WestJet decided that instead of them deciding who gets what, and who goes where or who gets reunited with whom, they would leave the decision to their guests. During a pop-up event at the Evergreen Brickworks in Toronto, WestJet invited a few of their guests to enter a giant tent in the shape of a Santa hat where they were greeted by live holograms of Santa Claus and Ebeniza Scrooge, the lone descendant of the infamous Ebenezer Scrooge.

ARHT Media helped deploy these holograms using our Holographic Telepresence technology and holographic display staging expertise.

Check out the video below to see how our holograms helped guests decide what to do with their gifts. Either to keep the gift for themselves or give it away to someone who could use it.

Key features of the campaign included a pop-up activation, holograms and a Christmas Miracle Online Hub microsite to help share information about the campaign as well as record donations and social content the campaign generated. Alongside this was a strong social media push that included a series of teaser videos, a social media contest and a hero video launch.

Videos that were released on social media reached over 104.8M media impressions and generated over 7.4M video views.

Moreover, with the 2019 campaign specifically designed to drive social engagements, it helped generate over 21.1M impressions on social media primarily through the use of hashtags on Twitter and Facebook. As well as gained a 92% positive sentiment online with many commenting that this was the best WestJet Christmas Miracle to date.

Results for the Shorty Awards will be announced on May 12, 2020.
